A Memory Without a Name 48 × 60 inches
Some memories do not return as stories.
They come back as fragments—a color, a line, the feeling of a room, the weight of a silence, something familiar that cannot quite be placed.
A Memory Without a Name grew from that space.
The painting holds large areas of quiet, interrupted by blue, teal, charcoal, and deep black gestures that seem to move toward one another without ever fully meeting. A thin line travels through the composition like a thought trying to find its way back. Other marks appear, disappear, and are partially buried beneath softer layers.
For me, that is how memory often works.
We do not always remember the entire moment. Sometimes we remember only what it left behind.
The dark passages in this painting carry weight. The lighter areas offer distance and breath. The marks are imperfect and unresolved because memory is imperfect and unresolved too.
There is no single event being described here.
It is the feeling of recognizing something inside yourself before you can explain what it is.
A memory without a name.
