The Refusal Mark
 
This piece is about refusing to be erased. As a middle child, my brother and sister took all the oxygen in the room leaving little room for me!!! I withdrew, but was still a happy girl!! 
 
Every line, layer, and mark carries the weight of what was deeply felt but could not always be spoken. I feel the background of this painting provides a soft quiet surrounding, but the marks are as strong, they talk almost out loud!!
 
The Refusal Mark is my reminder that even silence leaves evidence, and the soul will always find a way to speak.
