It is one of the paintings I feel is ending my Interruption Series. It is almost a symbol of AFTER the interruption, the part the remains when we pick up the pieces.Do I have all the answers, …. No. Over the past several years, I have lost a significant amount of my eyesight in my right eye. As an artist, that loss has frightened me in ways that are difficult to explain. I do not feel it has affected my ability to create but it has touched that vulnerable part of our inner souls… the part we do not talk to others about. The darkness in this painting holds those fears. It carries the uncertainty, my aging, my vulnerability, and the quiet panic of wondering whether parts of myself are disappearing.But the light marks continue to emerge.They represent the part of me that has not gone away—the artist, the woman, the faith, the memory, and the inner voice that still insists on being heard. Even when I cannot see as clearly as I once did, something within me still knows how get up each morning, go to my studio, connect with my feelings and talk to God. Something still reaches for light.By the way, a gallery owner told me not to paint dark, but to me it is the light that I see and feel..."Painting What The Soul Remembers"
